Where the data comes from
Three sources, all of them about completed transactions and published adverts. No agent submissions, no surveys, no reviews.
Completed sales
Sale prices and dates ultimately come from the official register of transactions in England, Wales and Scotland. These are completed sales — money changed hands — not asking prices and not agreed offers.
The adverts those homes were sold under
For each sale we retrieve the property advert it was sold under, which gives us the agent who marketed it, the price it was advertised at, and the date it first appeared. Adverts stay retrievable after a home sells, which is how we can look back over a full year.
Asking-price history
Changes to an asking price over time come from our dataset of daily price changes.
What is not a source
- Agents. Nothing on this site is supplied by the agents being compared.
- Reviews or ratings. We do not collect them and we do not display them.
